Hopi Ear Candling
The treatment involves placing a light, hollow tube into the external ear canal. These “candles” are typically crafted from unbleached cotton or flax woven together and stiffened with beeswax, honey extracts, and calming herbs like sage and chamomile.
When the top of the tube is lit, it creates a soft crackling sound and a warm, ambient sensation that many find profoundly soothing.
How the Procedure Works
During the treatment, which typically lasts around 30 to 40 minutes, after a detailed consultation, I will;
Lie you comfortably on your side with your head cushioned by a pillow.
I will then insert the filtered, hollow candle gently into the ear canal entry to create a seal.
A protective guard, such as a paper disc, or towel is placed around the candle base to prevent any ash or stray wax from the candle coming into contact with your skin.
The top end of the tube is lit. It creates a "chimney effect", though the main physical sensation is simply warmth and a gentle popping sound.
I conclude the treatment with a relaxing facial, head, or sinus pressure point massage to enhance stress relief.
