Merino wool fibers are extremely fine. A human hair is about 70 micrometers (µm) thick, while that of a merino sheep is only 14.5 to 24.5 µm thick. A micrometer is one millionth of a meter: the finer the micrometer, the softer the fiber. The merino yarn used in the Bauhaus series is one of the finest available: 19.5 µm. This means that the yarn is exceptionally soft, incredibly light, and non-irritating. A yarn thickness of 19.5 µm is often used for baby clothes or thermal underwear – garments worn directly on the skin. A perfect choice for a Wolvis piece!
